Soul Corrupted Witch — Minecraft Dungeons II Boss Guide

The Soul Corrupted Witch is the first boss of Minecraft Dungeons II, opening the story order ahead of the Twisted Warden, the Prime Enchanter, and the rest. With 1,200 health it has the smallest boss health pool in the published roster — but its top hit of 50 damage is the second-highest of any boss, behind only the Monstrous Opus at 90. That combination — low health, very high damage — defines the fight: short, sharp, and punishing of mistakes.

Do not confuse the witches

The reference data is genuinely confusing here, so read carefully. The enemy database entry for the Witch covers two different enemies sharing one page:

  1. Soul Corrupted Witch — boss, 1,200 HP. This page. The first boss of the story order.
  2. Witch — miniboss, 460 HP. A separate, weaker enemy sharing the page and the "Witch" name.

A 1,200-HP boss and a 460-HP miniboss have nothing in common except that page, and advice for one does not apply to the other — always check which row the numbers come from.

There is also a third witch-adjacent figure: the Wandering Witch, a separate entry in the achievement list. So the game has a Soul Corrupted Witch (boss), a Witch (miniboss), and a Wandering Witch (separate figure) — and this guide is about the first one.

Known attacks and mechanics

Published figures: 1,200 HP, a top hit of 50, a +15% blast weakness, and appearances listed across five regions. No full per-attack breakdown has been published.

The two numbers that matter are the health and the top hit. At 1,200 HP the boss dies fast — the lowest boss pool in the game, well below even the Monarch's 1,400. But 50 damage per hit is brutal for a first boss, and it makes this an unusual profile: most opening bosses are forgiving on damage and padded on health, but the Soul Corrupted Witch is the opposite. It will not take long to kill, and it will not take long to kill you.

As a soul-corrupted enemy, it belongs to the faction of corrupted variants fought across the game that drop enchantment currency — tying the first boss directly into enchanting, which is funded by the echo shards these enemies drop.

Weaknesses and resistances

The Soul Corrupted Witch is weak to blast, taking +15% damage from blast sources. The multiplier is smaller than the +50% weaknesses of the Monstrosity bosses, so blast is a modest edge rather than a fight-defining one — but against only 1,200 HP, even a small multiplier shortens the encounter noticeably.

No resistances have been published. Given the early placement, players will not have specialized elemental builds yet: bring whatever hits hardest, and prefer blast when the choice is free.

Drops

No detailed drop table has been published. Boss encounters in this game generally award gear, echo shards, emeralds, and consumables, and as a soul-corrupted enemy this boss fits the faction pattern of dropping enchantment currency. Expect the standard first-boss reward package — enough to fund your first real enchanting decisions — rather than anything exotic.

Strategy

Kill it before it kills you. The 1,200-HP pool against the 50-damage top hit makes this a damage race. Aggressive play is rewarded: the faster the boss dies, the fewer 50-damage attacks you must survive. Drawn-out defensive play is the wrong approach here.

Respect the damage. Do not assume the opening boss is safe to trade hits with. Dodge first, attack in the openings, and never assume you can absorb a hit you could have avoided.

Bring blast if convenient. The +15% weakness is worth taking when free, but do not rebuild your loadout around it at this stage; your best weapon with a blast option beats a worse weapon without one.

Learn boss fundamentals here. This fight is the tutorial for everything that follows: reading telegraphs, dodging through attacks, managing consumables. The Twisted Warden comes next with 1,750 HP and a deeper attack list — treat the Witch as the warm-up and the Warden as the exam.
