Walkthrough step-by-step
1. Leave the Oldest House
Welcome to Manhattan is the first quest of the Contain the Crisis questline. After the scenes in which you speak with Zoe and Pope, leave the Oldest House and head back out into Downtown. Dylan has struck a deal with the FBC: they let him out temporarily, and he helps them fight. They would never have agreed if the situation were not desperate — Zoe will act as his handler and hand him his first assignment.
2. Help with the Mapping Pylon
Mapping Pylons are what make the real map display instead of the blank space shown at first. Jump onto the rooftops to the south and interact with the small radio to activate it. The angle of the dishes on the large tower shows where the three smaller ones are, since the big tower's dishes point toward the small ones. After activating all three small transmitters, you can activate the large one in the middle to reveal the current region's map. This also starts the side quest "Notes: Mapping the New New York", which covers all Mapping Pylons on the open-world map.
3. Find the Maintenance Worker
Locate the maintenance worker's body and report it to Zoe.
4. Find a Way to Fix the Power / 5. Move the Charge to Central Checkpoint
Carry the electrical charge along the power boxes to the unit outside Central Checkpoint.
6. Power Up the Central Checkpoint / 7. Defeat the Hiss
Restore power to the checkpoint — a wave of Hiss spawns the moment power returns and must be fully cleared.
8. Meet Zoe at the Watchtower
Take the Zone Access lift beside the FBC van in Downtown up to Central Checkpoint, then follow the yellow floor markings through Central 1, the storage bay, and the high-rise floor, and enter the glass-walled office where Zoe waits. By this point you should have finished Orientation including the Artist fight, brought the Downtown Mapping Pylon and its three smaller transmitters online, found the maintenance worker's body and reported it to Zoe, delivered the electrical charge along the power boxes to the unit outside Central Checkpoint, and fully cleared the Hiss wave that spawned when power was restored.
9. Clear the Supply Route
This objective begins after speaking with Zoe at the Watchtower. Take the service elevator underground into the supply route. A closed security blast gate blocks the way — it is marked "Opens Remotely" and cannot be opened manually. Pull the orange power cube out of its active socket with telekinesis, then use the receptacle beside the gate to open it. Defeat the Hiss Thugs, report the Ranger corpses (R3 prompt), clear the flooded corridor, and climb the subway stairs back to the street. Other things worth doing here: loot the jukebox in the southern room for a Health Upgrade point, and wait near the blue door until the red light turns green, then open the door to exit the subway and head northwest toward the FBC Field Office.
10. Get a Security Keycard
As you approach the Field Office objective marker, a guard stops you at the entrance — speak with him (any dialogue choice works) and Zoe will take care of it. Go through the door to the north, continue into the Field Office, and collect the Security Keycard from the table in the middle. This completes Welcome to Manhattan.
