Dauntless Greaves

The Dauntless Greaves are the leg armor of the Dauntless set, a unique variant of the regular Bounty Hunter Shinguards. Like all armor in the game, they share the standard health pool, so what sets them apart is their signature effect: Vanguard, which lets you deal 60% more damage to any enemy still sitting at full health. That makes them a heavy, tank-archetype piece with a very aggressive payoff — a fitting match for the flavor text's fearless frontline warrior.

Vanguard rewards the opening strike. Only the first hit on each enemy benefits, since damage after that point lands on a wounded target, so these greaves shine in burst setups that try to delete enemies — and especially bosses — before the fight truly begins. They appear in rifeye's and LaserBolt's one-shot builds and sit at A tier for endgame play, carried by that 60% opener on bosses.

The one S-tier build built around them is the Awesomeaxe one-shot full-health burst setup, which stacks opening-hit damage so a single swing can finish targets. Any loadout built on the same idea — huge first hits, jump attacks, or charged openers — gets a lot from the piece.

To get them, farm any source of Bounty Hunter Shinguards, since the Greaves drop as the unique roll of that base item. Your best odds are in Brave Haven, Honeycomb Fields, and Ravines.
