Initial limited-match test (August 19, 2024)
On August 19, 2024, Valve announced that initial testing of VACNet 3.0 had begun in a limited set of Counter-Strike 2 matches. The announcement asked players who believed their match had been incorrectly cancelled to send the match details to the CS team. It documents a test scope and a feedback request; it does not say that all CS2 matches were included or that the test had reached a general rollout.
The announcement provides no technical account of VACNet 3.0’s inputs, detection methods, thresholds, evidence standards, selection of test matches or penalty process. A cancelled match alone therefore cannot be used to infer what the system detected or how it reached a decision. This page records only the public status statement and its date.
The same-day update also addressed automation of player inputs, including hardware features that blur manual input and automation. That policy discussion is separate from the limited VACNet test notice and does not describe VACNet’s internal operation. Key Bindings and Movement Inaccuracy cover the distinct input and movement topics.
