Overview
Coen's father — where to begin?
He is a complicated man. He surely loves them all, yet struggles to show it. Nobody works harder, and perhaps nobody is more pigheaded either. Life has worn him down, Coen understands that, especially as their mother's health failed — but at times he is simply impossible to reach.
Still, Coen owes him much: every sword-fighting skill he has came from his father, and they once worked the silver seams side by side, before the work made Coen ill.
His past, though, is a closed book. Word says he once fought for coin, but he will not speak of it. Strange, Coen thinks, to share a roof with someone his whole life and know so little about him.
