Final Report

Captain Bojidar opens with all due respect — and then: fuck you, sir. They aren't going back. It's finished: the knyaz lies dead and the castle has fallen, its walls decorated with the bodies of the chamberlain, of Lady Rosa, and of every one of the knyaz's offspring — except, of course, Catalin, who picked a remarkably convenient moment to journey beyond the valley.

His men only just fled those devils, and he will not order them back to die for a doomed cause — least of all while their commander is off 'escorting' the treasure transport, a posting with far better survival odds than he ever gave them. Let the record show their resignation: they would rather spend their remaining years hiding in the woods than perish for craven fools.
