Instructions from Boyar Ambrus
In this letter to all his subordinates, Boyar Ambrus addresses leech collection — which may seem trivial amid the challenges facing their sacred covenant, but is essential: the critters are needed for storing blood, and hence for the nourishment of the beloved boyars and knyaz.
He orders them to spare no effort in meeting their assigned quotas, and to deliver the leeches the moment they are gathered — for they produce spittle only while alive.
Those who meet his expectations can expect a handsome reward; those who fail him will have their suffering serve as a lesson for the rest.
