Tattered Note

Written in big blocky letters, this note argues against a terrible idea: Matiya has been missing for weeks,

fallen or buried by an avalanche — common enough in those parts. The writer begs the recipient,

who loves his brother, to reconsider: would he truly make their father grieve for two sons instead of one?
