Young Priest's Note

The priest writes that the Devil has won: people surrender their souls freely,

bleeding and drinking the cursed vrakhir ichor without protest.

He will never defile himself that way; if death is his only escape, so be it.

He means to walk deep into the mire until something or someone claims his life,

and asks whoever finds his body and reads the note to pray his soul

reaches St. Peter's Gate and is judged worthy.
