Protection

Protection is a defensive gear effect in Minecraft Dungeons II that soaks up incoming damage. It rolls as a bonus on weapons, armor, and artifacts — most naturally on armor pieces — and is distinct from Minecraft Dungeons II Enchanting Guide-based enchantments, which come from books rather than gear rolls. Survival-focused players value it because flat damage reduction helps in every fight, from early dungeons to high-threat endgame content.

The numbers rise steadily with tier: 10 at tier I, 15 at tier II, and 20 at tier III. There is no Unique tier or talisman track for this effect, so tier III from ordinary rolls is the best version you can find. The jump from 10 to 20 effectively doubles the protection, which makes re-rolling for a higher tier worthwhile once you start pushing harder content.

Gear effects are limited by rarity — common gear rolls none, rare gear rolls one, and special gear rolls two. The rolled tier follows your threat level: gear below threat 3 always carries tier I, tier III becomes possible from threat 6, and at threat 15 tier III is as likely as tier II. Combine Protection with fellow defensive effects like Resilience, Projectile Protection Effect, and Elemental Protection Effect for a genuinely tanky setup.
