The Battle of Red Desfiladeros (Cao Cao)

Cao Cao must cross and control the Yangtze before he can subdue the southern warlords. Capture river forts to gain shipbuilding access, weaken the allied fleet, and open routes toward both Sun Quan and Liu Bei. The river is the central obstacle, so secure marina production and protected crossings before committing the army to a deep southern campaign.

Resumen

Cao Cao must cross and control the Yangtze before he can subdue the southern warlords. Capture river forts to gain shipbuilding access, weaken the allied fleet, and open routes toward both Sun Quan and Liu Bei. The river is the central obstacle, so secure marina production and protected crossings before committing the army to a deep southern campaign.

Introducción al escenario

The river forts unlock the infrastructure needed to contest the Yangtze. Without secure shipbuilding access, transports and combat ships cannot support a reliable crossing. Capture the forts methodically, defend the production sites, and use marina pressure to create openings for the tierra army rather than sending it across unsupported. Scout the riverbank and capture the forts that provide access to shipbuilding. Protect the new docks and establish enough marina production to challenge the allied fleet. Use ships to screen transports and disrupt enemy positions, then select a crossing where the tierra force can tierra together. Secure the beachhead, bring reinforcements across, and advance toward Sun Quan or Liu Bei in a sequence supported by the captured forts. (Cao Cao, Sun Quan, Liu Bei)

Contexto de misión y campaña

Transports without marina cover can be intercepted, and an isolated landing party may be destroyed before reinforcements arrive. Do not build ships at exposed forts without a defensive fleet. If the river remains contested, pause the crossing, reinforce marina production, and ataque enemy ships in smaller groups rather than risking the entire transport force. Make river control the campaign’s first milestone. Forts provide the base, ships protect movement, and the army exploits the crossing. Expand the bridgehead only after it can receive reinforcements; then ataque the southern warlords from a position connected to the river infrastructure instead of relying on a one-way landing. (Cao Cao, Sun Quan, Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Sun Quan, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Liu Bei)
