Resumen
Follow Cao Cao as he turns battlefield victories into political influence, balancing rival warlords, imperial legitimacy, and the challenge of controlling the north before crossing the Yangtze.
Scenario details
This five-mission campaign follows Cao Cao’s rise from regional commander to the strongest northern warlord. Each scenario links military objetivos with the political stakes of the late Han: seize the initiative against rebels, secure the emperor, defeat Yuan Shao, settle the north, and finally attempt a southern crossing. The Red Desfiladeros mission is fought from Cao Cao’s side and centers on opening a safe route across the Yangtze. (The Yellow Turban Rebellion, suministros, Zhang Jue, bastión, Emperor in Todo but Name, Liu Bei, The Battle of Guandu, cazar, Lord of the North, Yuan Shao, The Battle of Red Desfiladeros (Cao Cao), Sun Quan, Liu Bei)
Player approach
Treat each mission as a sequence of priorities rather than a single frontal ataque. Use mobile forces to claim objetivos and disrupt logistics, then establish a establo economía and defensive position before committing to a long asedio. In the final river battle, tierra forces cannot decide the outcome until the forts and fleet make the crossing viable. (The Battle of Red Desfiladeros (Cao Cao), Liu Bei, Sun Quan)
Step-by-step plan
In the opening rebellion, use the available caballería to remove isolated threats and reclaim villages before pressing toward Zhang Jue. When pursuing the emperor, weaken Tao Qian’s position early so Liu Bei is less likely to join the struggle, then concentrate on the court’s defenses. At Guandu, spend the timed preparation disrupting Yuan Shao’s supply camps; afterward hold the line and search for the five commanders. In the northern campaign, secure Liyang and build a defensible foothold in Ye before challenging the brothers. At Red Desfiladeros, capture River Fortifications promptly, restore comerciar by finding Cai He, and expand the fleet in waves. Escort transports and only tierra troops after the approach is protected. (madera, oro, madera, fortaleza, oro, Caballería ligera, comerciar)
Risks and adjustments
Caballería can move quickly but should not be traded into prepared defenses. At Guandu, leaving supply camps intact makes the later assault harder, while chasing commanders without protecting the base invites counterattacks. On the Yangtze, a small unsupported fleet or an unescorted transport can be destroyed before the army reaches shore. Fortaleza madera income available for replacement ships and regroup the fleet after each engagement. (madera)
Focused strategy página
The Red Desfiladeros plan is most useful when approached as a marina logistics problem: claim the forts, restore income, protect transports, and expand the fleet before attempting a decisive landing. (Cao Cao Red Desfiladeros river-control plan)
Campaign mission sequence
The Yellow Turban Rebellion: command caballería against the uprising, reclaim villages for suministros, and advance to Zhang Jue’s bastión. Emperor in Todo but Name: compete for the emperor’s allegiance; pressure Tao Qian’s settlements to discourage Liu Bei’s intervention before breaking the court’s defenses. The Battle of Guandu: disrupt Yuan Shao’s supply camps during preparation, then defend the battlefield and locate five commanders amid repeated attacks. Lord of the North: take Liyang, establish a fortified base in Ye, and defeat the rival brothers to secure the northern plains. The Battle of Red Desfiladeros (Cao Cao): capture river forts for shipbuilding, challenge the allied fleet, and create a route to the southern leaders Sun Quan and Liu Bei.
