Madraza historically returned part of the Oro cost of a Saracen Monje when that Monje was killed. The refund softened the economic loss from Monje casualties but did not prevent conversion unidades from dying. A later update replaced the technology with Contrapesos, so estándar current matches do not provide this separate refund research. In the older Saracen tree, Madraza was researched at the Castillo. This record does not specify a universal price or research duration, and the upgrade was replaced by Contrapesos in update 61321. In a version where Madraza is available, it can reduce the oro lost during a sustained Saracen Monje push if several Monks are expected to die. Fortaleza the conversion group behind a frontline, rotate low-fe Monks away from danger, and use any returned recursos to rebuild support rather than repeatedly exposing the same group. The research only pays when casualties occur after it is active, and it cannot make a risky Monje push safe. In current Definitive Edition play the technology has been replaced, so prioritize the Monasterio upgrades and protection actually available in that ruleset.
