FAQ

Is it on Xbox One? No — Series X|S only, like Alan Wake 2. There is no last-gen version.

Does it support Xbox Play Anywhere? Yes — Windows Central's preview confirms it. One purchase covers both the Xbox Series X|S version and the Windows PC (Xbox app) version, with shared progress between them.

Is CONTROL Resonant Out on Xbox?

Yes — out now. Xbox Series X|S launched September 24, 2026, day one alongside PS5 and PC, and the game is purchasable on the official Xbox Store page. No Xbox One support — current-gen only, consistent with Alan Wake 2.

What Do Smart Delivery and Play Anywhere Give You?

  • Smart Delivery — buy once and get the correct version for whichever Xbox console you play on; Series X and Series S share a single purchase.
  • Xbox Play Anywhere — per the Windows Central preview, the digital purchase also covers the Windows PC (Xbox app) version, with shared saves and progress between console and PC.

Together they make this the most portable copy of the game: the same $59.99 entry price as PS5 and Steam, with patches through update 1.4.0 applying across the family.

Does the Xbox Version Have Performance and Quality Modes?

Series X gets the same pairing as PS5: a 60 FPS Performance Mode plus a Quality Mode — the "classic set-up." Remedy is targeting 60 FPS on all platforms for the sake of the game's combat speed.

Not yet confirmed: whether Series S carries both modes or a single balanced profile, and exact resolutions. Keep an eye on the official Xbox Store page feature list.

Is CONTROL Resonant on Game Pass?

Still no, as of the 1.4.0 patch era. The Xbox UK Instagram leak from before launch never turned into an official confirmation — full status on the Game Pass page. Until there's an announcement, the $59.99 purchase with Play Anywhere remains the plan.

What About the Physical Edition on Xbox?

Physical Xbox copies exist — including an Xbox Steelbook variant at retailers — but they follow the delayed October 15, 2026 physical date. One open community question (per r/controlgame): whether the full game ships on the disc or requires a download, since the first Control's Ultimate Edition needed a download on Xbox. There's no official answer yet. The Steelbook Edition page covers the box contents, which are identical across console platforms.

Xbox or PS5 — Which Version Should You Buy?

Identical on the announced facts: same September 24 date, no console-exclusive content. Practical tiebreakers: PSN pre-orders added four PlayStation avatars, while Xbox Play Anywhere doubles as a free PC copy for Windows players.
