Applying a charm
The CS2 charm system was introduced in the October 2, 2024 update. A player can attach one charm to a weapon at a time and drag it to a preferred position on the weapon model. Positioning makes the attachment part of the weapon’s displayed appearance, while the charm remains an inventory item associated with a customizable weapon.
Charms are separate from Stickers, which are applied as decals, and from a Weapon Skin, which changes the weapon finish. These cosmetic layers can be previewed on an item, but their functions and application controls differ. A charm does not provide an equipment slot in a round or modify weapon statistics.
Charm Detachments and inventory
To remove a charm from a weapon, the player uses a Charm Detachment. The detached charm returns to inventory and can be attached again, so detaching separates the accessory from that particular weapon instead of permanently consuming it. The tool is distinct from the charm itself and from the weapon to which it was attached.
The October 2024 introduction granted three complimentary Charm Detachments when redeeming a charm from The Armory; additional detachments were made available for purchase. That is a dated acquisition rule, not a promise that every later charm source uses the same allowance. Current item details and inventory UI govern a specific charm and tool.
Collections and availability
Charms are released in named collections and can be associated with The Armory or other CS2 inventory channels. A collection groups designs; it does not make its charms interchangeable with stickers or weapon finishes. Release dates and current availability belong to the individual collection and update.
Charms connect to Inventory because they are owned and managed as items, and to The Armory Update because The Armory introduced their CS2 system. Players can inspect an item and preview it on an eligible weapon before deciding how to customize the appearance.
CS2 applicability
This page describes the Counter-Strike 2 weapon charm system introduced in October 2024. It focuses on attachment, placement and removal; exact collections, prices and current acquisition routes are dated separately.
Attaching a Charm to a weapon
Charms are cosmetic inventory items that hang from a weapon and move dynamically as the weapon is handled. Counter-Strike 2 introduced them in the October 2, 2024 update. A player can attach one Charm to a weapon at a time and drag it to position the attachment on the selected weapon. The placement choice changes where the charm appears; it does not change the weapon’s damage, recoil, accuracy, ammunition or animation timing.
A Charm is applied from the inventory to a compatible weapon item. The weapon retains its finish and other item properties, while the Charm adds a separate visible decoration. The player can preview stickers, patches and charms on inventory weapons before applying an item. Charms are distinct from weapon finishes: a finish changes the weapon’s surface treatment, while a charm is a separate attached object. See Weapon Skins, Stickers and Inventory for those related systems.
Detaching, reuse and release context
The October 2, 2024 CS2 introduction added Charm Detachments. Using one removes the Charm from a weapon and returns the Charm to the inventory so it can be reused; it does not destroy the Charm. The update granted three complimentary detachments when a Charm was redeemed from the Armory, and additional detachment items were available for purchase. Those quantities and store pathways describe the dated launch rules; check the current in-game item description for present availability.
The initial Charm collections were offered through the Armory, and the Armory update describes Charms as one part of its rotating cosmetic inventory alongside weapon collections, stickers and cases. Availability can change as new collections are added or existing offerings rotate. A Charm’s collection and name identify its cosmetic set, not a gameplay class or a new weapon. The weapon remains usable with the charm attached, and detaching it allows the same cosmetic item to be moved to another compatible weapon.
