Eligibility and counter transfer
A valid pair uses two StatTrak™ items in the same broad class, such as two rifles or two SMGs. The models and finishes do not have to match, and the items can differ in rarity and exterior wear. The tool exchanges which eligible item carries the count; it does not add the two totals together, create a new counter or convert an ordinary item into StatTrak™.
The operation is inventory-focused. It leaves weapon damage, firing behavior, recoil and appearance intact, apart from the relationship between the StatTrak™ counter and the item. A StatTrak™ Music Kit is also noted as compatible. Because the tool is consumed on use, check the in-game confirmation and item-class eligibility before committing it.
Pack and individual access
The in-game store product described by the item record is a two-pack. Purchasing it grants two individual Swap Tools, each used separately. Individual tools have also been available through Steam Community Market listings. The pack and the market-listed single tool are different purchase formats; prices and active store availability can change and are not treated as fixed current CS2 values.
The tool was first released on March 31, 2015. That historical date predates CS2; this entry explains the item as it applies to the current Counter-Strike 2 inventory rather than presenting it as a CS2 launch feature.
