Map identity and Bomb Defusal setting
The Wiki credits T-Rexer, Squidski, David Hasselhoff and Kale as Stronghold’s creators. The setting is Gibraltar: the map description presents historic castle fortifications and military equipment, with Counter-Terrorists navigating the area’s tunnels among castles and bunkers. It gives the map a strong coastal-fortification theme without identifying which structures connect to each other.
Stronghold is designated for Bomb Defusal. Terrorists attack the bomb objective and Counter-Terrorists defend against or respond to a plant; the description frames the attackers’ target as the stronghold’s fortifications and equipment. This is the map’s scenario, not a separate ruleset. Its classification distinguishes it from Hostage Rescue and Wingman maps.
CS2 versions and dated availability
Counter-Strike 2 added Stronghold on January 21, 2026. The April 28 update added a Stronghold Night version, optimized several areas with expected frame-rate improvements primarily at T Spawn, fixed a missing bot-navigation file and refreshed the map to the latest Community Workshop version. These notes distinguish a visual variant from performance and bot-navigation maintenance.
On July 8, 2026, CS2 removed Stronghold from all game modes along with Warden, Alpine and Sanctum. Its earlier addition and April update therefore do not establish current matchmaking availability. Map Rotations tracks pool changes separately from the map’s identity.
Layout information
The available description names castles, bunkers and tunnels but provides no named bombsite callouts or route connections. This entry preserves the documented setting rather than assigning unsupported site locations or rotations.
