Take control where available
Bot takeover was enabled where applicable in the August 17, 2023 CS2 Limited Test update. The feature allows a player to take over a bot in a supported match context. The patch note does not define its queue restrictions, team conditions, timing or input, so those details are not assumed here.
Bot takeover is different from adding or removing bots through server configuration: it concerns control of a bot during a match. Its dated scope is the Limited Test; check the current client or server rules for present availability. See Bots and Offline Play.
Death handling and spectator-target fixes (May 9, 2024)
The May 9, 2024 update made the death experience during bot takeover match the normal death experience. It also fixed several bugs with cycling through bot-takeover spectator targets. These notes address how the game handles a death while takeover is active and how the observer moves among available targets; they do not describe a new takeover rule or name particular target-selection controls.
Bot takeover lets a player assume control of a bot in supported match situations. The patch aligns a death-state experience with the ordinary case and repairs target-cycling behavior, but it does not explain which visual or control details were inconsistent. The correction should therefore be read as a dated consistency and spectator-navigation fix, without assuming a specific respawn, camera or control change.
Money recipient correction during bot takeover (April 29, 2026)
The April 29 update fixed cases in which money was subtracted from the wrong player during a bot takeover. The note identifies an accounting error around the takeover transition; it does not state a new fee, reward, or rule for taking control of a bot. When a player uses the existing takeover system, this correction concerns whose balance is charged. See Bots for bot roles and Economy for the round’s money system.
