Model & identity

The Karambit is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A curved claw-like blade with a ring at the handle end. The strongly curved silhouette and ringed handle make it visually distinct among CS2 knives; its inspect presentation is a defining part of the model. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.

The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.

Role in a match

The Karambit occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.

Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.

Finishes & inventory

Compatible finishes can change the Karambit’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.

The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.

CS2 applicability

This entry covers the Karambit model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.

Curved blade and grip presentation

The Karambit’s curved blade follows the claw-like profile described in its official item text. The Wiki identifies the visual reference as the United Cutlery Honshu Karambit. A finger ring at the handle is part of the model’s distinctive shape and evokes the traditional reverse-grip form associated with the design. In Counter-Strike 2 the ring and curve are visual features; they do not add a separate attack or interaction.

The first-person view presents the knife in a traditional grip, while the world model uses a more pistol-like hand position. This difference is visible when comparing the player’s held view with the third-person model. The Wiki notes the world model’s proportions relative to the player model; the practical CS2 role remains that of a cosmetic knife sharing the Stock Knife behavior.

Inspect, finish and shared performance

The Karambit’s inspect animation makes the curved profile and finger ring particularly visible. Drawing or inspecting it does not change the timing or effect of slash and stab attacks. A compatible Weapon Skin changes the displayed finish; Wear and a Pattern Index describe appearance variation without changing the blade’s shared melee behavior.

The Karambit is a Rare Special item that can be selected in the CS2 inventory loadout. The Wiki’s case references describe item-pool history; case membership can change and should not be read as a current availability guarantee. Compare the similarly curved Talon Knife and the default Stock Knife by silhouette, grip and animation preference.

Crouch animation wrist rotation (April 2, 2026)

The April 2, 2026 animgraph_2_beta notes fixed an unusual wrist rotation in the Karambit crouch animation. This is a character-animation correction for the knife while crouching; the note does not describe a change to the Karambit model, inspect animation, attack timing or damage.

Defuse hold-pose fix (April 28, 2026)

The April 28, 2026 AnimGraph 2 update corrected the Karambit’s held pose while defusing. The documented change concerns how the knife is displayed during the action. It does not describe a change to Karambit attacks, movement, defuse duration or the C4 objective.

Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
