Model & identity

The Talon Knife is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A curved claw-shaped knife with a ringed handle. Its hooked blade and finger ring visually connect it to karambit-style designs, while its own model and inspection animation distinguish the CS2 item. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.

The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.

Role in a match

The Talon Knife occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.

Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.

Finishes & inventory

Compatible finishes can change the Talon Knife’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.

The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.

CS2 applicability

This entry covers the Talon Knife model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.

Ivory grip, brass rivets and curved blade

The Talon Knife combines a strongly curved, claw-like blade with an ivory-colored handle, brass rivets and saw-tooth ridges. Its official flavor text describes the teeth as cutting on entry and tearing on withdrawal, but that wording is descriptive: the in-game knife does not have a special serration attack. The Wiki identifies the model as based on the KIASLORE Tiger Claw, with ivory grip panels resembling those on a Damascus Knives Shop karambit.

In Counter-Strike 2 the Talon Knife is a cosmetic alternative to the default Stock Knife. Its curve and ridges do not change the shared slash and stab actions, damage, attack reach or movement speed. The closest visual comparison is the Karambit, which also has a curved blade; the Talon’s prominent handle panels and saw-tooth spine make its presentation distinct. Players choose between them by appearance and animation, not by a mechanical advantage.

Inspect animation and finish selection

The Talon Knife shares one inspect animation with the Karambit, while keeping its own model and other presentation details. A Counter-Strike 2 update on August 26, 2025 adjusted the Talon inspect while fidgeting to make it more responsive. The update concerns the inspect presentation and does not describe a combat-stat change. Inspecting is useful for viewing the model and finish; it does not affect an active round’s melee properties.

The Talon Knife is a Rare Special inventory item introduced with the August 3, 2018 group that also included the Navaja, Stiletto and Ursus knives. Its item-gallery history associates original finishes with the Horizon and Danger Zone Cases and Chroma finishes with the Prisma and Prisma 2 Cases. Treat those as dated pool records rather than a guarantee of current drops. A compatible Weapon Skin changes the surface finish; Wear and Pattern Index affect appearance only.

Defuse hold-pose fix (April 28, 2026)

The April 28, 2026 AnimGraph 2 update corrected the Talon Knife’s held pose while defusing. This is a first-person animation/presentation correction during an objective action; the update does not change the knife’s attack behavior, equip timing or defuse rules.

Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
