Vale Sangora's marshes are a grim and hostile land, said to be the hunting ground of enormous lizard-like beasts lurking beneath the water and the peat. Worse, their numbers appear to be swelling — enough that they have begun spilling past the swamps into the neighbouring woods. If the rumours hold, even folk who never enter the marshes have reason to be afraid. And dread is warranted: the beasts lie in wait for days without stir or sound, then burst forth swift as lightning the instant prey draws near. Dodge the strike and still you cannot catch the beast before it dives back below — only to surface elsewhere a heartbeat later and make another attempt on your life, utterly relentless.
