Overview
Gremla ranks among Laslea's most aged women, and among the most gifted — a fine weaver, a splendid cook, and the village's history held better in her memory than anyone's. Since Brencis's arrival, though, she lives in perpetual dread. Her hatred of the vrakhiri is plain, yet she holds it is not her place to defy them; instead she seeks to mollify them so they will leave Laslea be. Not all agree with her — but many do.
