Overview
Laslea, Coen's home, used to live off mining above all else. That ended when Brencis took the knyaz's seat and shut the silver mines, after which the villagers scraped by as farmers and herders. Outsiders might call the life peaceful, but it is mostly grueling work from first light to nightfall, in any weather — and a poor harvest before winter means starvation.
