Overview
A hundred years ago, a great host of Tatars rode into the region with Batu-khan's Mongol army. Some, weary of war, sought somewhere to settle; they reached Vale Sangora and gave their oath to house Dragosti for leave to graze sheep.
As with Svartrau's Neustadt Jews, the Tatars now dwell mostly in a single place: the village of Tantari — and, as with the Jews, Coen doubts it is wholly by their choosing. The world is unjust to everyone, but to some more than others.
