Overview

Crafting looks skippable through most of a run — and it mostly is. It holds one item that is not skippable, so the list's shape is worth learning even for players who never touch a cauldron.

All other recipes cap at a stack of five. This one caps at a single brew, since the effect never expires: 20% more maximum human health, 10% more maximum vampiric health, and a skill point.

It requires one Strong Ancient Reagent, two Tatzelwurm Glands, and one Razkovniche Plant. Reagent and glands come from containers and from kills. No source in the valley ever yields the plant.

The plant comes from one quest and costs you a day

The Hedgehog Herb alone provides it: a quest flagged as a point of interest, starting at a derelict house. Comb the site in Focus Mode, recover the seeds of a plant that drinks blood, sow them, and nourish the sprout with your own blood.

Growing it takes a full day — sixteen segments, split eight and eight between day and night. Few mechanics demand deliberate time-spending; this is one, so plan for it.

Once it matures, brewing is up to you — or Anca can do it, or the Silberstein medic for a fee. The reward is identical every way; only what you pay differs, so there's no hard choice.

Crafted consumables beat food where it counts

Food's effects weaken in combat, while crafted consumables keep full strength. So a humble crafted tonic outperforms an elaborate meal in the one context where either matters.

Both still need quickslot placement for mid-fight use, so bench and hotbar are really a single decision.

The five families, by size

Health leads the families at twelve recipes: instant restores, healing over time, temporary max-health boosts, and the three Blood Infusions, which restore your reserve in exchange for Corruption.

Enhanced Melee counts ten recipes, Enhanced Active Abilities nine, Utilities seven, Stamina six. Every family comes in three tiers — minor, standard, potent — so the forty-four recipes collapse into roughly a dozen ideas at three power levels.

Two ingredients gate a third of the list

Weak Spirits shows up across ten recipes; Linseed Oil across nine. Both turn up in common and point-of-interest containers, so exploring stocks them naturally — while skipping containers leaves you dry.

Volume-wise, Yellow Sweet Clover leads: fifteen units spread over six recipes; Comfrey needs eleven spread over four. Make a habit of collecting all four whenever they're in reach.

Every ingredient has a findable source, but not an equal one

Every one of the forty-four ingredients is obtainable. Plants mostly come from caves, roadsides, and standard containers — plain old exploring.

A handful instead come from specific creatures: a Tatzelwurm Gland drops from a tatzelwurm, while Dust of Anachora drops from an astral psoglav, a headhunter, a mare, or a monster. When brewing hits a wall, the blocker is almost always a creature drop, not a plant.
