Aeëtes and Jason

Aeetes saw that Jason would not leave Colchis without the Golden Fleece, so rather than face him openly, the cunning king set him tasks — one of them to sow dragon's teeth.

The moment the teeth touched the rich dark earth, dozens of dread warriors burst forth; but the forewarned Jason tossed a stone among them, and suspecting one another of throwing it, they fell to fighting amongst themselves.

Because a stone had tricked them, these warriors became known as Vrachoi, 'rocks' — and Aeetes was outsmarted and presently forfeited the famed Fleece.
