Overview
Mevasser serves as a Jewish rabbi in Svartrau's Neustadt district. Though Brencis outlawed every faith but his own Blood Covenant, the city's Jews keep defying him in secret — a grave risk, which likely explains Mevasser's wariness toward Crake and Coen. He is plainly a wise man, honored by his community and deeply learned; the manumits could make great use of him.
