Overview
Mihai holds the title of Svartrau's patron saint — or so the stories Coen grew up on claimed, painting him as a slayer of dragons from hundreds of years past. As a child Coen never questioned it, nor thought much about it. The truth proved stranger: no Christian saint, but a pagan; and what he slew were not 'dracones' but 'vrakhones' — that is, vrakhiri.
Nor was he dead. Coen met him — and nearly died at his hand. Before passing, Mihai told of his betrayal — chained and abandoned to rot in the catacombs beneath Svartrau Cathedral. He named himself a 'dawnwalker', insisting Coen was one too. What that truly means for Coen, he cannot say — but the thought of Mihai's centuries of torment, doomed to agony, neither able to die nor to break his chains, is more than he can imagine bearing.
