Overview
Before Greifberg Castle rose, Svartrau's grandest building was its cathedral, consecrated to St. Mihai.
It occupies the ground of Vale Sangora's first church, raised by Tobias, the valley's patron saint; the cathedral supplanted that old church close to two centuries back. Rebuilt and extended again and again, it grew alongside the city.
Then, a full year after Brencis's takeover, one tower began to crumble, for no clear reason: no lightning strike, no rain-weakened stone... Naturally, whispers spread of a bad omen, or punishment for plastering Brencis's likeness over the saints' images.
Brencis only redoubled his campaign to seize the cathedral for himself and the Blood Covenant, his new faith, insisting the tower be rebuilt before winter — bigger and stronger than before.
