Anonymous Diary

The diarist, who refused to join peasants marching on Shrike's Crag, watched from afar as Skender's soldiers offered no pardon and cut everyone down; the screams lasted for hours and the stench of gore and death lingered in the atmosphere for days.

Declaring the world abandoned by God and all His saints, the writer vows never to leave home again, hoping only that the next world will be better.
