Anticipating doubts about its authenticity — doubts he shared — he vouches for it through his loyal vassal, who dreamed an angel revealed the sword's origin and would never lie about such a thing.

He boasts it cuts flesh so easily that even a youngster could decapitate Saracens with it, and lists the relics concealed in its grip: St. Peter's tooth, St. Basil's blood, a lock of St. Denis's hair, and more besides. The excerpt breaks off there.
