Executioner's List

This grim list names those whose heads had to roll: Jarlo, for withholding his blood at mass yet demanding Brencis's blessed drop gratis; Ikis, for defying the guard who demanded to search his cart and riling up his companions; Kieta, for sheltering an escaped man condemned to the noose last month; Narcin, for attacking the Boyaress's commander and spitting at him; Eugine, for preaching about the old God and sowing panic and disorder across the town.

The verdict for all: the noose at dawn.
