Intel on Crake

A report sent up the chain of command in Brencis's army, sharing fresh intelligence on the manumit leader known as Crake.

Sergeant Rateld infiltrated the rebels posing as a willing recruit; two of their people made contact, and he slipped away after them unnoticed. What he overheard suggests Crake is an outsider — perhaps Jewish, perhaps Tatar, a fact that would explain the fruitless hunt so far.

The writer hopes the report proves useful and awaits further orders.
