Reynard came upon Baldwin the Ass, Grimbard the Badger and Kyward the Hare carrying pitchforks, scythes and torches, riled by a hooded stranger calling himself A-Man-You-Meet to kill their king, the Lion, with promises of endless food and fearlessness.
Donning a hood himself, Reynard roared the same demand 'for my benefit' and laughed at his own joke, revealing the deception was his all along.
Ashamed, the animals agreed that pitchforks belong in fields not in bloodshed, and that one should think before believing blatant lies; they abandoned rebellion and lived in peace.
