Overview
Battles of Tarain begins with a field battle where the player controls one selected unit group while allied troops fight nearby. Preserve enough of that unit type to earn its later stat improvement.
Plan and execution
Choose Arbalesters, Cavaliers, or War Elephants based on the campaign force you want strengthened. Focus the controlled group on targets it can counter and avoid leaving it under concentrated attack. After the battle, begin the foothold phase by stabilizing the economy and defenses before pressing onward. If the opening battle suffers unusually heavy losses, restart rather than carrying a depleted army into the next phase.
Risks and adaptation
The selected unit type’s later bonus depends on survivors, so do not trade the group recklessly for a quick victory. The opening can behave inconsistently; check that the intended army and starting Age are present before committing.
