Plan and execution
Use a concentrated group to pressure exposed units or hold a narrow lane where their reach lets several Lancers fight at once. Research the Elite upgrade when the line is still central to the plan and the improved mass can affect the next engagement.
Risks and adaptation
Steppe Lancers are less effective in small numbers and their Imperial Age value depends on the matchup. Avoid upgrading a few survivors automatically, and do not let the formation run into a counter line without support.
