Overview

The Central Resonant is the second hunt in the Defeating Resonants questline (PowerPyx titles the page "The Central Resonant"; the hub list and the West Incursion page's NEXT link call it "The Central Zone Resonant"). Strange steam is pouring from a factory in Central — steam that looks Patterned. Could it lead to another Resonant?

Starting location: Central Zone, at the map text "Patterned Factory". The quest begins when you inspect the "eye" icon on the pipes on the factory's south wall (L1/LB), or earlier if picked up elsewhere.

Walkthrough

Investigate the Steam Coming From the Factory in Central

Head to the north of the Central Zone and find the map text "Patterned Factory". On the factory's south side, press L1/LB on the "eye" icon over the pipes to start the quest. Climb the platforms on the east side of the factory to reach the roof, destroy the wooden door on the roof, and go inside. Clear the factory's enemies, then take the elevator down.

Follow the Scorch Marks and Deal with the Steam

Follow the underground path to a corridor filled with flames. The intended route: destroy the red glowing orb on the far end of the room, opposite the flames (the side you came from), then follow the path toward the hot pipes and keep destroying the red dots in the tunnel section — that shuts the flames off so you can walk through normally. Shortcut alternative: temporarily turn on Assist Mode > Immortality and run straight through to save time, then switch it back off.

Kill the Resonant in the Factory

Defeat the Resonant inside the factory — The Deserter, the giant magma boss — then use the button prompt to finish it off. Afterwards pick one of two abilities, Ignite or Inferno. Like the other hunt rewards, the choice can be changed later in The Gap via the Mural.

What it unlocks

This kill, together with the West Incursion Zone Resonant, satisfies the requirement for Enemy of My Enemy. Continue the questline with The Underpass Resonant.
