How to Start
Freeze Frame is one of the earliest side quests you can pick up in CONTROL Resonant. Head to the second floor of the Watchtower in Central, close to Zoe's office, and speak with Zoe for the first time — the quest is offered during that opening conversation.
There are two other ways to get into it if you missed the Watchtower pickup:
- Bump into a camera. Wandering into a camera's line of sight briefly freezes Dylan before the camera disappears. That strange encounter is enough to add the quest to your log.
- Find the Instant Photos. Each camera has a paired Instant Photo collectible. The first pair rests on a desk at the back of the FBC Field Office, just right of a brown pillar, next to a plant and some camera rolls. Interacting with the photos points you at the hunt.
The quest isn't a linear chain of objectives — it's a 14-target collectible hunt. There are 14 Freeze Frame cameras in total, two in each of the game's seven zones.
Walkthrough
The Basic Method
Once Dylan gets close to a camera, it appears on the map as a camera icon. The goal is always the same: get behind the camera and interact with it without being seen. Being caught by its gaze triggers the time-freeze and the camera vanishes.
Your toolbox for sneaking up on them:
- Look for hidden alternate routes that loop around behind each camera.
- Use platforming paths that approach from above or behind.
- Spend electric charges to power open doors that give you a back entrance.
- Smash through rooftop Ability Barriers with the Ground Slam ability.
- Unlock a door behind a camera, then circle back through it.
If a camera spots you and disappears, walk away from the spot until you hear a clicking sound — that means it has respawned and you can try again. Once you interact with a camera from behind, it's contained for good. Every camera you finish drops an Instant Photo that hints at the zone and location of the next one.
All 14 Camera Locations
Downtown
Camera #1. The rooftop above has an Ability Barrier blocking your way — smash it with Ground Slam. To get up there, head slightly north-west of the camera on the street and use the Shift ability's gravity control to walk up the side of the roof.
Camera #2. Carry electricity from the Power Core Station just north of the camera up to the roof slightly north-east of it, then feed the power into the door behind the camera to open a route in.
Central
Camera #3. Start at the Watchtower fast travel door and head downstairs into the open storage room. Climb the scaffolds there and drop through a hole in the ceiling — you'll land right behind the camera.
Camera #4. This one needs the Reach ability from the Jesse Sighting The Subway Fault. Let the camera catch you on purpose so it vanishes, then go down into the building, open the door on the bottom floor, and walk outside until you hear the respawn click. Backtrack upstairs and you'll come up behind the camera.
West Incursion Zone
Camera #5. This camera sits on a platform stuck to the side of a building. Go to the end of the street, slightly west of it, and activate Shift gravity. Jump toward the floating platform while gravity is inverted 180° — a second platform will spawn, leading you on to the camera.
Camera #6. In the far north-west corner, on a sideways-flipped building. Use Shift gravity to climb the area, drop onto the camera from the roof above, and use Reach to pull yourself up the second roof.
Evacuation Zone
Camera #7. Bring electricity from the Power Core Station in the zone's south-east corner, running it along the street to the west. You'll need to charge two electrical boxes — one out on the street and one below the elevator — then use Reach to get onto the camera's roof and power the cube sitting by the door.
Camera #8. Let the camera spot you, then walk past it into the building and take the elevator down. Exit at street level, walk away until the respawn click sounds, then ride the elevator back up and come in behind the camera.
The Park
Camera #9. Inside the underground subway station — enter from the street slightly north at the Nomand Avenue Station entrance. Take the left path and burn through the webbed wall blocking it with Ignite or Inferno to get behind the camera.
Camera #10. This one is on a platform above the sewer entrance. Carry electricity from the electric cube on the street to the south (near the jacket icon on the map) to the elevator slightly west of it, ride the lift up, and jump across to the camera platform.
The Underpass
Camera #11. On the north-east island, staring out of a yellow-lit corridor. Hug the left edge of the corridor, look down for a grapple point, and use Reach to drop through a hole in the floor that lands you behind the camera.
Camera #12. On the island south of Tubes Island, high in a moldy wall. Use Shift gravity, follow the red floor, and drop through the upper opening on the opposite side from the camera. Alternatively, jump-dash from a nearby pillar and use midair quick attacks to carry yourself the distance.
The Unknown
Camera #13. At a construction site behind a hole in the blue mold. Go into the main building, head downstairs, and defeat the mold ambush waiting there. You can reach the camera from behind — if the site isn't visible, flip gravity 180° to bring it into view.
Camera #14. Inside a shop. Let it catch you, then enter the shop behind it and hit the red button for the garage door. Walk away until the respawn click, then re-enter through the now-opened garage and sneak up behind it.
Final Objective: Contain All Cameras in Downtown
After all 14 cameras are dealt with, Dylan gets a phone call sending her to Downtown. A marked quest area there contains a swarm of cameras that must all be shut off from behind. If any of them spots you, the objective resets — and the cameras spawn in different positions on every attempt, so stay patient and pick them off one by one.
Recommended Abilities Before Attempting All Cameras
- Finish all three Jesse Sightings quests (The Incursion Fault, The Subway Fault, and The Underpass Fault) for their traversal abilities.
- Equip Ground Slam, earned by defeating the West Incursion Zone Resonant — slot it via the Mural in The Gap. You'll need it for rooftop Ability Barriers.
- Get Ignite or Inferno from the Central Zone Resonant to burn through webbed walls.
Rewards
- Progress toward the Panopticon Intern trophy (one of six Altered-item quests).
- Instant Photo collectibles dropped from each camera.
No named NPCs appear in this quest — the cameras themselves are the Altered-item entities. The quest is not missable; every camera can be finished in post-story free-roam.
