Visual role and item classification
A glove finish is an inventory cosmetic that changes the appearance of the hands. Its model is visible while the player holds firearms or a knife and can also be seen by observers when the character model is shown. The item has no gameplay function such as blocking damage or improving a weapon. Its purpose is customization within the broader CS2 Wearables system.
Gloves are classed as exceedingly rare special items in the documented container tables and display the special-item star designation. Like weapon finishes, they have exterior quality that affects how an individual copy looks. Family, finish and exterior are separate identifying properties: two copies with the same finish can show different wear, while two finishes on the same family retain the same basic hand model.
Glove model families
Hand Wraps use a wrapped construction described as supporting the knuckles and wrist. Moto Gloves have a bulky hard-knuckle silhouette. Specialist Gloves are described as durable and breathable, while Sport Gloves use synthetic athletic fabrics. Driver Gloves are designed to protect the hands while preserving tactile sensation.
Bloodhound Gloves, Hydra Gloves and Broken Fang Gloves use fingerless designs decorated with their respective operation insignia. These families therefore differ in silhouette and material treatment as well as finish. The family name is part of the formal item name and should be retained when identifying a cosmetic, for example “Driver Gloves | Convoy” or “Sport Gloves | Hedge Maze.”

The finishes cover a range of visual treatments: camouflage and patterned cloth on wraps, colored leather and hard-knuckle panels on Moto and Driver models, tactical textiles on Specialist Gloves, and athletic synthetic surfaces on Sport Gloves. Names such as Cobalt Skulls, Emerald Web, Pandora’s Box, Crimson Kimono and King Snake identify distinct finish entries. These names refer to cosmetic presentation, not to special abilities or weapon statistics.
The list is the named family roster in the cached CS2 Wiki presentation. It excludes unused material textures and models that are not listed as available gloves. A finish gallery entry is a distinct item variant, not a separate glove model or an extra player slot.
Container associations and acquisition context
The source tables associate early families such as Hand Wraps, Moto Gloves, Specialist Gloves, Sport Gloves and Bloodhound Gloves with the Glove Case and Operation Hydra Case. Finish rows later in those tables are grouped with containers such as Clutch Case, Broken Fang Case and Snakebite Case; Hydra Gloves are associated with the Clutch Case. These names document which item pools contained particular finishes. They are historical container relationships, not a claim that every named case remains in the current weekly drop pool.
CS2 players may also encounter individual gloves by trading or through market listings where those listings exist. Availability and prices change, and an item’s case association does not guarantee that a player will receive a particular family or finish. General cosmetic access is distinct from selecting a finish after it is already in the inventory.
Dead Hand Collection: 22 new gloves
The March 11, 2026 CS2 update added 22 new gloves as rare special items in the Dead Hand Collection. Eight are Driver Gloves: Garden, Wave Chaser, Brocade Crane, Brocade Flowers, Hand Sweaters, Plum Quill, Dragon Fists and Seigaiha. Seven are Specialist Gloves: Pillow Punchers, Cloud Chaser, Blackbook, Lime Polycam, Big Swell, Sunburst and Chocolate Chesterfield.
The seven new Sport Gloves are Ultra Violent, Occult, Violet Beadwork, Red Racer, Blaze, Frosty and Creme Pinstripe. The 8/7/7 split is specific to the Dead Hand set and totals 22; it is not the number of glove finishes in CS2 overall. These additions reuse the named Driver, Specialist and Sport model families while supplying new finish designs.
Dead Hand items are accessed through a Dead Hand Terminal, listed as a possible weekly drop. This is a terminal offer path rather than a conventional keyed case. See Dead Hand Collection for its 17 weapon finishes and collection context, and Terminal for sealed and active states, sequential offers and purchase rules.
Default hand models and exterior
Default CT Gloves and Default T Gloves are team-associated hand models, not cosmetic Gloves inventory items. The source notes that the default Terrorist inventory depiction uses fingerless Elite Crew gloves even though most Terrorist factions use a different full-leather model. Cosmetic gloves do not have a “vanilla” finish variant, so the default team models should not be treated as an unskinned cosmetic glove in a container roster.
Exterior quality affects the visible condition of an equipped pair, and its finish and pattern contribute further visual differences. A player can inspect a glove in the inventory before equipping it. The resulting appearance persists across weapon selections but does not change the player’s hitbox, faction, movement speed or the properties of a held weapon.
Pattern and wear alignment (July 17, 2023)
The July 17, 2023 Limited Test notes said glove patterns and wear would more closely align with the Global Offensive versions. This is a dated CS2 cosmetic-appearance adjustment, not a gameplay property. It does not mean that gloves affect protection, movement or weapon handling.
Glove fixes (September 13, 2023)
The update included unspecified fixes for Gloves. It names no model or finish and describes no wear, pattern, placement or display behavior. This bullet does not establish that every Glove was affected or that item properties changed.
UI character glove display fix (May 1, 2024)
The May 1, 2024 update fixed an interface bug in which UI characters always appeared to wear default gloves. The change corrects the character preview presentation; it does not change glove ownership, item state or in-match glove behavior. The patch does not identify the affected menus or whether every character model showed the same symptom.
