Map collection and souvenir item
A package is tied to an event and a map. Its possible weapon finishes are associated with the relevant map collection, and the opened item carries the Souvenir quality plus tournament decoration defined for that package. The package is therefore different from a standard Weapon Case: its identity includes event and map context, not only a finish pool.
Packages do not all represent the same collection or sticker set. Historical packages may preserve an older map collection even when a later collection exists for the same map. Check the named package and its contents rather than assuming the latest map collection applies to every event. The resulting weapon remains a cosmetic Weapon Skin; the applied decoration and quality do not change weapon behavior.
Opening and event context
Souvenir packages have used tournament-specific acquisition and opening rules. Older package entries describe event drops or Souvenir Tokens, while newer CS2 event interfaces may use different ways to select a match or claim an item. The event page and package details determine which process applies; legacy descriptions should not be read as current instructions for every Major.
In the May 21, 2026 CS2 update, the Major Shop introduced a custom Souvenir process: an eligible normal or Souvenir weapon, a completed match and a player could be selected, returning the weapon in Souvenir quality with gold team, autograph and map stickers. This was a dated event feature, distinct from opening an older package. Its period and conditions belong to the corresponding event record.
CS2 applicability and history
This entry covers legacy and current Counter-Strike 2 Souvenir Packages as dated inventory objects. It distinguishes package openings from the May 2026 custom Souvenir feature and does not imply that every past event package remains obtainable. Event-specific contents and availability should be recorded on the named package or Major page.
Opening and acquisition history
A Souvenir Package opens without a key. Its output is a Souvenir-quality weapon finish with one or more tournament stickers already applied. Historically, packages were dropped during championship matches. Since StarLadder Berlin Major 2019, packages have instead been acquired with Souvenir Tokens; that dated change should not be presented as a current instruction for every event or as a promise that a token shop is active.
The package’s event and map connect its contents to a map collection and tournament decoration. The collection version is tied to when that package entered the catalogue; a later collection for the same map does not retroactively replace the older package contents. DreamHack 2013 and EMS One 2014 are exceptions to the ordinary single-map association: their packages draw from a variety of collections across maps and modes. Their event-specific sticker context also differs from later packages.
PGL Stockholm 2021 is another useful historical distinction: gold map stickers became available through capsules, so they were no longer exclusive to Souvenir weapon finishes. Package stickers can still identify the event context, but the gold treatment alone does not prove that a sticker came only from a package. A package remains a container; the resulting Souvenir quality, weapon finish, collection and applied tournament stickers are related item properties rather than synonyms.
