Souvenir as an item quality

Souvenir is a quality applied to certain weapon finishes in Counter-Strike 2. It identifies a tournament-linked version of an item rather than a different firearm. A Souvenir AK-47 and an ordinary AK-47 finish use the same gameplay weapon; the Souvenir distinction is carried by the item’s quality and decoration in the inventory and inspect view. It does not grant a damage, accuracy or economy advantage.

Tournament decoration can include gold stickers for the event or team, a player autograph and the map associated with the match. The sticker arrangement gives the item a connection to a specific Major context, so the same underlying finish can have ordinary and Souvenir presentations. The displayed weapon finish remains part of its collection and its visual wear; the Souvenir quality adds a separate tournament attribute. See Weapon Skins, Stickers and Collections.

Souvenir Packages and match context

Historically, Souvenir weapons were obtained by opening Souvenir Packages associated with a Major match. The package connected a reward to the map collection used in that match and to tournament decoration. This package route is a distinct container system; a Souvenir Package is not an ordinary Weapon Case, and it does not require the same opening assumptions. See Souvenir Packages for the container itself.

Package contents and event availability are tied to the relevant Major and its item system. A package from one event should not be assumed to contain the same map collection or sticker combination as another. The existence of Souvenir Packages in the historical catalogue does not prove that the current Major offers them or that a new package can be earned now. Treat acquisition as dated event history and check the current CS2 Major Hub for its actual reward system.

IEM Cologne 2026 custom Souvenir

On May 21, 2026, CS2 added custom Souvenir crafting to the IEM Cologne 2026 Major Shop through the Souvenir-O-Matic. A player can select a normal- or Souvenir-quality weapon from the inventory, choose a completed match and one player from that match, then preview and confirm the result. The selected weapon returns as a Souvenir with gold team, autograph and map stickers associated with the chosen match and player.

Any stickers already applied to the selected weapon are removed during the craft. This is a permanent item transformation, so inspect the preview and the weapon’s existing decorations before confirming. The conversion uses a Major Shop event system, not a standard Trade Up Contract or a Souvenir Package opening. The exact matches, players, token cost and availability are event-specific; do not present the Cologne 2026 choices as a permanent all-Majors feature.

Because the Major Shop permits selection of a completed match and one of its players, this method gives the player control over the chosen tournament context rather than randomly selecting a package outcome. It still does not change the weapon’s gameplay function. The result’s visual identity comes from the underlying finish and the applied gold tournament stickers.

Souvenir items in Trade Up Contracts

A May 21, 2026 CS2 update changed Trade Up Contract eligibility. Souvenir-quality items can now be selected alongside normal-quality items. When a Souvenir item is submitted, its Souvenir attributes are removed. The contract result is one normal-quality item of the next grade, chosen from the collections represented by the submitted inputs. The result does not retain Souvenir quality or the input items’ tournament sticker decoration.

This current CS2 rule supersedes older Wiki statements that Souvenir weapons cannot be used in a Trade Up Contract. A player considering a contract should distinguish the collection contributed by an input from its Souvenir quality: collection eligibility can inform the output pool, while the Souvenir attribute is lost. Contracts consume their inputs and produce an output under the contract’s rules, so review the eligible collection and expected output before proceeding. Trade Up Contract covers the full input, collection and output process.

Version scope and availability

Souvenir systems have changed across Counter-Strike releases and between Major events. Earlier descriptions may explain match-based packages, while the IEM Cologne 2026 system lets a player craft a selected Souvenir and the May 2026 update also changes contract use. These are separate dated mechanisms; do not combine them into an undated claim about every CS2 Major.

A Souvenir item’s current availability depends on its particular event, inventory status and present CS2 offerings. This page describes the quality and documented 2026 systems but does not promise that a package or Major Shop is currently active. Souvenir is cosmetic tournament context, not a gameplay mode, weapon class or competitive rank.

May 21, 2026 IEM Cologne Major update

The Cologne 2026 Major Shop added a way to craft a custom Souvenir. A player could select a normal or Souvenir-quality weapon from inventory, choose a completed match and select one player from that match. The chosen weapon was returned as a Souvenir-quality item with gold team, autograph and map stickers applied. The match and player selection therefore determined the event decoration attached to the item.

The patch does not state that the original weapon finish changes or provide a full eligibility list beyond normal and Souvenir quality. The feature is tied to the Cologne 2026 Major Shop, not a general-purpose crafting option available for every tournament or at all times. See IEM Cologne 2026 Major and Trade Up Contract for how Souvenir items later interact with the contract system.
