Map identity and setting
Assembly is credited to Quoting, Thomas, Huvaligen and Almaas and uses the map name de_assembly. Its setting is an aircraft manufacturing and assembly facility. The Workshop description frames the scenario as destroying or defending an aircraft assembly line, giving the industrial location a direct connection to the Bomb Defusal objective rather than treating it as decoration alone.
The map was designed for Wingman, CS2’s two-versus-two Bomb Defusal mode. Wingman reduces the team size and uses a compact single-site encounter, which changes how much space two players can watch and how quickly teammates can support one another. A player should read the map in relation to the Wingman rules, not as a full-size five-player Active Duty map. See Wingman and Bomb Defusal.
How Assembly plays in Wingman
With only two players on each team, every death and rotation changes the team’s coverage immediately. Terrorists must create access to the bombsite and protect a plant with limited teammate support. Counter-Terrorists must gather information, contest the approach and preserve enough time to retake or defuse if the bomb is planted. Utility and communication matter because there are fewer players to cover an angle while a teammate moves.
The compact scale of Wingman means a callout can quickly turn into a direct engagement. A pair should decide who watches the other route and who uses utility or carries the bomb, then update that plan when a player is spotted or eliminated. A solo push can leave the remaining teammate exposed to a two-player attack; moving together can preserve trading support, but can also concede space elsewhere. These are consequences of the 2v2 format and should be adapted to the actual round position.
Use the radar and teammate callouts to identify where opponents were last seen. Do not assume that a prior sighting proves they remain there: smaller teams can reposition quickly, and a missing opponent can be holding a different approach. Smoke Grenades, Flashbangs and fire utility can help manage a contested entry, but the useful throw depends on the exact version and geometry. Test lineups on the current map build rather than importing instructions for a different map or an older workshop revision.
CS2 release and Workshop updates
Valve introduced Assembly to the CS2 Wingman map pool on June 25, 2024, alongside Memento. The announcement was part of the first addition of community maps to CS2 official playlists. This gave the map an official matchmaking role for that period, while its community-created authorship remained unchanged.
Valve updated Assembly to the latest Community Workshop version on July 22 and again on August 8, 2024. These updates show that the official playlist could receive revisions from the community map’s Workshop development. On November 13, 2024, Assembly was removed from the recorded CS2 rotation. The addition and removal dates describe playlist availability; they do not mean that the underlying Workshop map stopped existing or that a subscribed/community-server build became unplayable.
Keep these states distinct when browsing map records: an item can remain in the Workshop after Valve removes it from official matchmaking, and a community server can use a newer Workshop build than an official playlist used previously. See Community Maps, Workshop Maps and Map Rotations for these separate forms of availability.
Current status and map-specific detail
Assembly’s documented official CS2 Wingman interval runs from June 25 to November 13, 2024, with Workshop updates during that interval. Check the current Wingman map selection and dated CS2 release notes before describing Assembly as part of an active official pool. A historical map entry should preserve its past status without implying that players can currently queue for it in every mode.
The available maintained Wiki page identifies the map, creators, setting, scenario and update history but does not provide a verified list of named routes, site landmarks or detailed callouts. This entry therefore explains the map through its confirmed aircraft-factory theme and Wingman role instead of inventing route names. Use the map’s current Workshop item and in-game radar when documenting precise positions for a later map-specific guide.
This page is scoped to Counter-Strike 2. It does not merge similarly named maps or map behaviors from other Counter-Strike games. Any future change to the official status, workshop revision or map geometry should be recorded with the relevant CS2 date.
