Map identity and CS2 setting

Baggage is listed for Arms Race, a mode built around repeated respawns and weapon progression rather than a planted-bomb round. The CS2 map record places Baggage in the United States. A separate Global Offensive description places a baggage-claim conflict in Germany and names Phoenix Connexion and GSG-9; those details describe that earlier version and are not the setting or character pairing used here.

The map’s visible environment is an airport baggage-handling area organized around conveyor equipment. Its identifier, ar_baggage, reflects its Arms Race association. Baggage is therefore best read together with the mode rules: players keep returning to engagements and advance their weapons instead of buying a loadout, defending bombsites or earning round money.

Symmetry, spawns and vertical levels

Baggage is symmetrical, with Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist starting areas directly opposite one another. The two teams begin at the same elevation, and a wall blocks a direct line of sight between the spawn positions. That separation prevents the opening view from being a simple straight shot across the entire map while leaving both sides with a comparable arrangement.

Spawn markings use team colors: the Terrorist starting position is yellow and the Counter-Terrorist starting position is blue. These colors help identify the respective start zones in the environment; they do not represent control points or objectives. The map also has meaningful vertical separation: the main conveyor area and upper belt lead toward the uppermost level, while a ramp descends to a basement directly below the open conveyor area.

The map provides both upper and lower radar views. Because those views represent different elevations, a callout should make clear whether an opponent or teammate is above or below the main floor. A short location name without vertical context can be ambiguous when players occupy vertically aligned parts of the arena.

The three documented paths from spawn

From a team’s spawn, the Wiki describes three choices. The first moves forward around the dividing wall into the main open conveyor-belt area. This central space is the map’s open baggage-claim floor and connects the starting side to the primary belt environment.

The second choice uses the conveyor belt on the right to climb toward the topmost area. It changes the player’s elevation and creates a route through the upper part of the map rather than keeping movement on the central floor. The third choice takes the ramp on the left down to the basement, which lies directly beneath the open conveyor area.

These are the source-documented spatial relationships, not a full callout catalog or a guarantee of safe movement. The map page does not assign named rooms to these paths or establish fixed opponent positions. Since Arms Race respawns continually, the direction of an engagement can change after an elimination; use the radar and communicate both the path and level when reporting contact.

How Arms Race uses the map

In CS2, Arms Race returned on February 6, 2024, when the update added the mode and listed both Baggage and Shoots. The mode gives players weapons through a progression and awards the match to the first player to complete the final Gold Knife elimination. Baggage’s multiple elevations and opposing spawn areas provide the space in which those recurring fights occur.

Weapon progression means the useful engagement distance changes as a player advances. A long sightline may suit one stage better than a close encounter suited to another, so players should recognize the currently equipped weapon and use the available belt, wall and ramp geometry accordingly. This is a general connection between Baggage’s layout and Arms Race, not a map-specific weapon order or recommended route.

Unlike Bomb Defusal, Baggage has no planted C4 site to attack or retake. The map article provides no economy plan, site names or permanent defensive positions. For the shared respawn, leader and weapon-progression rules, see Arms Race; this page describes where those fights take place on Baggage.

Version history and availability

Baggage returned with CS2 Arms Race on February 6, 2024, and its CS2 map entry identifies the United States setting. Its symmetrical geometry and three paths from spawn are map facts; the German location and older faction descriptions belong to the Global Offensive version and are kept separate. The mode’s current map list and queue availability can change, so consult Map Rotations for dated roster information rather than treating a historical addition as a permanent promise.

Spawn doors, conveyors and stairs (April 25, 2024)

The April 25, 2024 Baggage update opened the roll-up doors at the spawn areas, updated models for some conveyors and made stairs solid. Opening those doors changes the visible and traversable spawn-space presentation; the solid stair surfaces make collision match the geometry players see. The patch also included other bug fixes without naming their locations. Baggage is an Arms Race map, so its spawn layout and movement surfaces matter in a mode built around repeated engagements rather than a planted-bomb objective. The notes do not specify new routes, spawn timing or conveyor interactions, and those details should not be assumed.
