Model & identity

The Bayonet is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A straight-backed, fixed-blade knife model with a long point and a simple crossguard. Its recognizable profile is defined by the exposed blade and guard, while its finishes change the visible surface rather than its role. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.

The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.

Role in a match

The Bayonet occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.

Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.

Finishes & inventory

Compatible finishes can change the Bayonet’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.

The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.

CS2 applicability

This entry covers the Bayonet model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.

Bayonet model and military form

The Bayonet is a fixed-blade knife model with a long, straight profile based on the 1993 Buck M9 Bayonet identified by the Wiki. The official description emphasizes the bayonet’s military form. The in-game object is a cosmetic melee item; Counter-Strike 2 does not provide a rifle-mounted bayonet charge or a separate weapon attachment.

The CS2 model shares the default Stock Knife attack behavior. Slash and stab are the available attack types, and the player’s choice of Bayonet changes the equipped model rather than the attack’s damage or reach. Its straight guard and blade make it visually distinct from the curved M9 Bayonet and compact Flip Knife.

Rare Special item and loadout

The Bayonet is classified as a Rare Special cosmetic knife. The Wiki lists eligible weapon cases as its acquisition path; specific case pools are historical records that may change, rather than permanent CS2 drop guarantees. The player equips it through inventory and loadout selection before using it in a match.

A compatible Weapon Skin supplies the Bayonet’s finish. Wear and pattern variation describe that cosmetic item, not its melee function. The Bayonet’s distinctive draw animation rolls the knife off the hand and catches it by the handle. That flourish is independent of movement and does not provide an attack advantage. Compare the M9 Bayonet, Flip Knife and Stock Knife for other models in the same melee category.

May 21, 2026 IEM Cologne Major update

The May 21, 2026 update adjusted the finger animation on the Bayonet model. This is a model-animation change to the named knife’s presentation; it does not describe altered attack timing, damage, reach or movement. The patch does not identify a specific inspect or draw sequence.

Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
