Model & identity

The M9 Bayonet is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A large fixed blade with a pronounced guard and a serrated section along the spine. The larger blade silhouette distinguishes it from the slimmer Bayonet model; inspect and draw animations present the chosen knife model. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.

The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.

Role in a match

The M9 Bayonet occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.

Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.

Finishes & inventory

Compatible finishes can change the M9 Bayonet’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.

The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.

CS2 applicability

This entry covers the M9 Bayonet model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.

Rifle bayonet form and serrated edge

The M9 Bayonet is a large military-style knife whose name and design evoke a bayonet intended to mount on a rifle. Its official item description emphasizes that it also works for close-quarters combat. The Wiki’s model notes identify the in-game knife more specifically with the Smith & Wesson SW3B, designed after the real M9 Bayonet, and mention the Norinco D80 as an alternative visual reference. The serrated section of the blade contributes to its distinctive profile.

Despite the mountable-bayonet theme, the CS2 item is not attached to a rifle and does not add a bayonet charge or alternate firearm attack. It is a cosmetic melee knife with the same Stock Knife behavior: slash and stab attacks, shared range and movement rules, and no model-specific damage bonus. Its larger blade is a visual choice. Compare it with the simpler Bayonet, which has its own model, and the fixed-blade Huntsman Knife.

CS2 loadout and finish selection

The M9 Bayonet was among the first five cosmetic knife models introduced with the Arms Deal update. The Wiki connects it to early Arms Deal container records and later finish families. These case names document historical item pools; they should not be read as current drop guarantees. In Counter-Strike 2 it is an extremely rare cosmetic item that can be equipped from the inventory loadout.

The M9’s compatible finishes change the appearance of the blade while leaving its silhouette and melee behavior intact. Weapon Skins describes the finish system, and Wear and Pattern Index explain condition and pattern variation. The distinctive serrated blade makes the item recognizable in loadout previews and inspect views. When selecting among M9 Bayonet, Bayonet and other Rare Special models, compare visual profile and presentation; their combat use remains the shared knife role.

Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
