Model & identity

The Flip Knife is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A folding knife with a hinged blade that opens from a compact handle. Its folding construction gives the model a different shape from the fixed-blade options, and its inspect animation is part of its cosmetic identity. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.

The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.

Role in a match

The Flip Knife occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.

Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.

Finishes & inventory

Compatible finishes can change the Flip Knife’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.

The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.

CS2 applicability

This entry covers the Flip Knife model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.

Back-swept blade and folding profile

The Flip Knife is identified by its Persian-style, back-swept blade and acute point. Its official item description acknowledges that the point may be fragile while describing the overall folding design as durable. The Wiki’s model reference is the Benchmade 860 Bedlam. The blade is longer than the handle, so the folded model visibly protrudes instead of disappearing completely inside the grip; that detail gives the knife a distinctive outline even when it is not presented fully open.

The Flip Knife is a cosmetic model in Counter-Strike 2. The folding appearance does not create a separate tactical state: the player does not gain a concealed-weapon attack, different reach, or stronger stab by choosing it. The model shares the default Stock Knife behavior, including the same primary slash and secondary stab roles. In a close-range emergency the same melee rules apply; in ordinary engagements, choose the Flip Knife for its shape and animation rather than a damage advantage.

CS2 animation, finishes and loadout

The draw and inspect sequences present the folding blade and handle as a compact, moving object, which is the main gameplay-facing distinction from fixed-blade models such as the Bayonet or Survival Knife. A Counter-Strike 2 update on August 26, 2025 adjusted the Flip Knife animation when inspecting immediately after deploying it. This is an animation correction; it does not document a change to slash, stab or movement behavior.

The Flip Knife belongs to the Rare Special knife group and is equipped through the CS2 inventory loadout. A compatible Weapon Skin changes its finish while retaining the same model and melee role. Wear and Pattern Index describe separate appearance properties. The Wiki’s case and Gamma-finish lists record item-pool history; they should be treated as historical container associations rather than a guarantee of current availability. Compare inspect style and silhouette with the Falchion Knife, Karambit and Stock Knife.

Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
