Model & identity

The Gut Knife is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A compact knife with a hooked notch near the blade tip and a broad belly. The characteristic hook is its most recognizable profile feature. A finish appears on the compatible blade surfaces but does not add a gameplay ability. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.

The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.

Role in a match

The Gut Knife occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.

Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.

Finishes & inventory

Compatible finishes can change the Gut Knife’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.

The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.

CS2 applicability

This entry covers the Gut Knife model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.

Gut hook and blade profile

The Gut Knife is identified by the hooked notch on the spine near the blade tip. The official description connects the hook to field dressing game and cutting fibrous materials such as rope, webbing and safety belts. In the game, that hook is a model feature only: it does not provide a special cutting action or an interaction with map objects.

The Wiki identifies the visual reference as the Buck Knives Alpha Hunter Model 193. Its hooked profile makes it easy to distinguish from straight-edged models such as the Bayonet and Paracord Knife. The Gut Knife shares the CS2 Stock Knife performance, so its blade silhouette and finish do not change slash or stab behavior.

Cosmetic item and finish

The Gut Knife is a Rare Special melee item that can appear in eligible weapon cases. The Wiki classifies it as a rare special cosmetic knife in Counter-Strike 2. Check the linked Weapon Cases and Collections entries for dated item-pool context.

A finish is applied to the Gut Knife model as an inventory property. [[Wear|Wear]] can affect the finish’s visible condition and a Pattern Index can affect pattern-based art, but neither changes the hook or its attack. Equip the item through the CS2 loadout and compare it with the Flip Knife or Karambit by model and animation preference.

Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)

On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
