Model & identity
The Ursus Knife is one of the knife models in the CS2 inventory. A straight-edged, compact fixed-blade knife with a simple handle profile. The restrained shape contrasts with hooked and curved knife designs. Its inspect and draw presentation belong to the cosmetic model. The player sees the selected model when holding and inspecting the knife; other players can also see its equipped appearance in match situations where the model is visible.
The knife type and the weapon finish are separate parts of the item. A knife model determines the blade and handle form, while an eligible finish determines the surface pattern or color. A finish does not convert the knife into a different model, and a visually rare finish does not improve its performance.
Role in a match
The Ursus Knife occupies the melee weapon slot and provides the standard knife actions available in CS2. Players may switch to it when they need a melee option or when moving without a firearm is appropriate under the game’s movement rules. It has no unique tactical ability tied to this cosmetic model. The player must still consider nearby opponents and choose whether to keep a firearm ready.
Knife attacks are close-range actions and expose the user if an opponent has a gun ready. The equipped model does not replace positioning, movement or a team’s objective. The Stock Knife explains the default equipment; this entry describes the selected visual variant.
Finishes & inventory
Compatible finishes can change the Ursus Knife’s visible blade or handle surfaces. The exact finish pool depends on item and container releases, so availability should be documented with the relevant CS2 Weapon Cases, Collections or update entry rather than assumed from the knife’s name.
The knife can be inspected and equipped through the CS2 inventory and loadout interface. An inspect animation presents the model but does not change its match statistics. A weapon finish or knife model is part of item customization and does not affect the AK-47, M4A4 or other firearms in the player’s inventory.
CS2 applicability
This entry covers the Ursus Knife model in Counter-Strike 2. Its current cosmetic availability depends on the item pool and updates; no market price or case drop is treated as permanent. The visual profile described here identifies the model and separates it from the shared melee role.
Tanto profile and construction
The Ursus Knife is a fixed-blade Tanto-style survival model. Its official description names a faceted blade, full tang and impact pommel, emphasizing a simple, rugged construction without moving parts. The Wiki identifies its visual basis as the Gerber Prodigy Tanto Knife. Those details explain its silhouette and item theme; they do not add a special CS2 attack or environmental interaction.
In CS2, the Ursus Knife has the same combat performance as the Stock Knife. Slash and stab remain its attack choices, while its blade facets and pommel are cosmetic. A Weapon Skin can change the finish applied to the model without changing melee behavior.
Item pool and presentation
The Wiki lists Horizon, Danger Zone, Prisma and Prisma 2 cases as acquisition sources for the Ursus Knife. This is a dated item-pool record; case availability can change and does not imply that the knife is part of a gameplay mode. It is selected through the CS2 inventory loadout like other cosmetic knives.
The Ursus Knife was added to the item family with other Tanto and folding styles, but its defining visual cue is the faceted fixed blade rather than a folding mechanism. Inspect and draw animations present the selected model; they have no effect on damage, movement speed or the shared knife role. See Navaja Knife, Stiletto Knife, Weapon Cases and Inventory.
Deploy and quick-inspect animations (August 14, 2025)
On August 14, 2025, Counter-Strike 2 improved deploy and quick-inspect animations for all knives. The patch describes a shared animation update across the knife category; it does not identify a unique pose, timing value or motion change for this individual model. The change concerns how a knife is drawn and quickly inspected in first person, rather than its attack damage, reach, movement speed or cosmetic finish. The same update separately modified the Sawed-Off and several named firearms, whose animation changes are documented on their own pages.
