Overview
Volk is a former mercenary and — allegedly — Coen's father's friend. He was likely a nimble fighter in his youth, but now he is old, sightless, and perpetually hunting for a drink.
By his own account, he reached Vale Sangora after going blind and begged Coen's father for aid. His father obliged: found him lodgings and, unnoticed by all, stopped by now and then, quietly supplying all Volk needed to get by.
With his father unable to verify or refute any of it, Coen cannot say whether Volk tells the truth. True or invented, his tales of his father and their escapades make fine listening.
