Vlad counts both Coen and his father as friends — and as the pair are as different as night and day, that likely proves Vlad could befriend anyone. He is nearly twice Coen's age, yet the years sit lightly on him, a rarity in Laslea.
Lately, though, he has grown secretive. Rumor links him with the rebel manumits plotting against Brencis; if true, Coen wagers Vlad will want him and his father drawn in as well.
